Sexism in tech is real. Let’s smash it together.

Sexism in tech has a bit of a reputation. If you spend more than 5 minutes in the industry as a woman or otherwise not completely hetero/masculine dude, you’ll feel it. Let’s not play. We’ve all got stories.

It’s kind of a wild situation – here we are building products for people who aren’t men (wow!), but we’re not the ones leading the charge? We remain underpaid, and under-promoted at every turn. Our badass, creative, intuitive, technically adept selves have so much to bring to this shit. The world needs us.

A ton of people say they don’t roll with sexism in tech. Yet the proposed solutions to this problem feel pretty weak too. “Lean In!” is a flawed answer to a system designed to keep women out. Systemic oppression is some deep, tangly shit.

So I say – let’s lean together to smash sexism in tech.

This is all of us.

Let’s build networks. Support each other’s work. Get shit done.

To put my money where my mouth is, I’m offering a special deal for any lady, non-binary, or gender nonconforming CEO or founder.

I want your app to hulk smash destroy the competition. It’s nothing personal. It’s political. To show I’m serious, you can contact me, tell me your story, and I’ll get you a great deal on one of my service packages. I’ll take that pesky wage gap into account.

(Oh, and if you’re a cis dude who happens to have built an incredible anti-oppression app? Let me know about that too. Credit where credit’s due. We’re on the same team.)

Why risk the ire of the MRAs? Because we’re in this together. If tech is going to save the world, we need a total power shift. Let’s build it ourselves.
